Angels Save Merced From Drowning - 2015

This painting is part of the “Lemur Mourning Series” inspired by Victorian mourning pieces
memorializing the deceased with a lock of his/her hair. This is a prayer that they will be saved from
a destroyed homeland. Another threat, a hawk, replaces the dove or Holy Spirit in Catholic iconology.

Original: 18” X 12”, oil on wood, glass, hardware, and lemur hair.

Note: Hair used in this art work was opportunistically saved (or collected)
during routine annual physicals.
